Semiconductor supplier KD provides innovative high-speed optical networking for harsh environments. Making gigabit communications over fiber optics a reality, KD technology supplies multi Gb/s optical links for automotive, industrial, and home networks.
Founded in 2010 in Madrid, Spain, KD offers its cost-effective technology as either ASSP or IP (Intellectual Property) to be integrated in SoCs (System-on-Chips).
KD has more than 80 employees, we are in full expansion due to the development of innovative products in the sector and the creation of a unique factory in Spain.
As a result, we are looking for a Electro Optical Engineer.

These are your tasks:
As a member of the R&D team, you will work in the photonics department and will be responsible for high-speed broadband electro-optical (EO) components characterization, modeling, and design.
You will also overview these components production and manufacturing by top tier manufacturers.
In your role you will use the state of the art high speed broad band RF equipment to measure and characterize the EO components, you will analyze the data and prepare high quality reports, that will be used as inputs for modeling and design.
You will also take part of the design and optimization of the next generation EO components to enable the company’s future products.
Your will interact with the Analog & Mixed signal team to help design the drivers of these EO devices. The measurements and models that you will develop will be used in sophisticated simulation tools to allow optimization of the full link simulation to enable high speed operation of the optical transceivers.
What you bring with you:
MSc in Physics, Electrical engineering, Electronics, or relevant field.
At least 2 years of experience in related fields.
Hands-on expertise in advanced lab test equipment, accurate characterization capabilities, and data analysis.
Basic understanding of semiconductor diodes and lasers.
Basic understanding of optical systems.
Solid programming capabilities.
Excellent English communication, both written and verbal.
Desirable knowledge and skills:
Optical communication and networking knowledge.
Solid-state semiconductor diodes and laser physics knowledge.
Experience with EDA tools or similar component design tools.
Modeling capabilities for DC and AC circuits, lumped elements, and 2-port network knowledge.
