Semiconductor supplier KD provides innovative high-speed optical networking for harsh environments. Making gigabit communications over fiber optics a reality, KD technology supplies multi Gb/s optical links for automotive, industrial, and home networks.

Founded in 2010 in Madrid, Spain, KD offers its cost-effective technology as either ASSP or IP (Intellectual Property) integrated in SoCs (System-on-Chips).

KD has about 80 employees, we are in full expansion due to the development of innovative products in the sector and the creation of a unique factory in Spain.

As a result, we are looking for a Support Engineer.

Pre-sales support

You offer comprehensive information about our products designed for automotive or industrial applications and provide global project and design support, either remote or on-site, for automotive projects.

You create block diagrams, schematics, or any other technical documentation to assure the full understanding of project solutions and conduct product and solution tests at the in-house location (Madrid, Spain) to meet project requirements.

You will design evaluation boards using our devices for clients and demonstrations.

You take part in trade fairs, external trainings courses and represent the company in training courses in coordination with the marketing team.

You actively check and update the Automotive products and marcom material in the Madrid showroom to ensure successful customer demos.

Post-sales support

Offer remote troubleshooting for technical customer issues via phone or email, recording these instances in the relevant applications, and reporting technical issues to Field Application colleagues, R&D, and sales departments.

New product development support

Provide new product ideas, or product improvement suggestions to the marketing department.

Regularly update and maintain our technical knowledge base documentation, integrating insights garnered from project support, encompassing use cases, ECU design, and troubleshooting tips

Support tests for new developed products and maintain communication within other support and development departments.

Assist in the creation of product training material and product presentations.

What you bring with you:

Knowledge:

Education: BSc or MSc in Telecommunication or Electronics (with knowledge or experience in Telecommunication) Engineering or any equivalent education, ideally experience in wired or optical communications technologies.

Experience: A minimum of 5 years working within the electronics industry, engaged in tasks outlined previously, with experience in using electronics CAD tools (Altium, Spice, etc).

Know-how: Preferable knowledge in the areas of communications devices, ethernet networking at PHY (and/or switches) level and/or optical communications.

Tasks:

Hardware design of electronic boards: schematics, component selection, simulation and PCB layout

Systems to be developed include different kinds of boards for the ASICs developed in the company for commercial demonstration and evaluation boards.

Specification of the systems to develop and test procedures

Testing of the boards in the laboratory according to the defined procedures

Support clients in their bring-ups.

Skills:

Experience in EDA tools. Previous knowledge of Altium is welcomed

Experience in simulation with tools like LTSpice

Knowledge of high-speed analog and digital design, EMI/EMC and PDN design techniques

Experience with different communication protocols (Ethernet, SPI, I2C, SMI…)

Digital and analog design

Laboratory skills, including the ability to make small reworks during board bring-up/debug activity

Laboratory instruments: Multimeter, Power supply, Oscilloscope, VNA.

Interaction with the R&D team and other departments of the company.

Soft Skills: Your work approach is defined by Customer orientation, accountability, teamwork, consistency, autonomy, and a focus on achieving results. Strong communication skills and the ability to provide clear customer messages are essential.

Others: Proficient language skill in English is a must (All written documentation is in English).
