Semiconductor supplier KD provides innovative high-speed optical networking for harsh environments. Making gigabit communications over fiber optics a reality, KD technology supplies multi Gb/s optical links for automotive, industrial, and home networks.
Founded in 2010 in Madrid, Spain, KD offer its cost-effective technology as either ASSP or IP (Intellectual Property) to be integrated in SoCs (System-on-Chips).
KD has about 75 employees, we are in full expansion due to the development of innovative products in the sector and the creation of a unique factory in Spain.
As a result, we are looking for a Mechanical Design Engineer.
These are your tasks
Design of concepts of IC packages, IC sockets and fiber optic connectors.
Design and model of opto-mechanical measurement setups.
Thermal analysis of IC circuits and PCB boards.
Mechanical analysis and tolerance analysis of IC's, connectors, etc.
Geometrical measurements and inspection of IC's, connectors, boards, etc., by using the digital microscope and CMM equipment.
Handling of prototyping of some of the designs by 3D-printing and CNC machining to be executed by subcontractors.
Definition of needs for in-house prototyping and handling of in-house prototyping lab.
What you bring with you
Education: BSc/MSc in Mechanical Engineering or relevant field.
Experience: A minimum of 5 years' experience in mechanical design and simulation using modern 3D design software like Ansys Mechanical, Solidworks, Autocad, Catia, Inventor or similar.
Desirable competences
Knowledge & Skills
Programming skillsets using Python or Matlab for numerical models and data analysis using libraries such as numpy, scipy and pandas is required.
Knowledge of Geometric Design & Tolerancing (GD&T) is required.
Basic knowledge of optical systems and fiber optics – a huge plus.
Knowledge of version control software is welcome.
Fluent written and verbal English communication skill is a must: all internal documentation is written in English.
