From a power efficiency standpoint, the transceiver consumes no more than 1W while transmitting bidirectional 10 Gb/s, representing a 30–50% reduction compared to equivalent electrical solutions. Optical cameras involved in real-time functions—such as emergency braking or pedestrian detection—benefit from BASE-AU’s deterministic, low-latency communication, supporting stringent functional safety requirements. BASE-AU delivers communication latency below 1 µs and end-to-end video latency under 18 µs at 10 Gb/s. As data rates increase, latency is further reduced thanks to the higher system clock frequency, enabling even faster reaction times for critical applications.
