KD Advances Optical Connectivity Implementation at ECOC 2026

2026-08-19 · KD

KD will participate as an exhibitor at ECOC 2026, taking place from September 21–23 at FYCMA in Málaga, Spain, bringing the automotive perspective to one of the world’s leading events for optical communications. Gathering key players from industry, academia and the wider photonics ecosystem, ECOC provides a major platform for discussing the technologies and trends shaping the future of optical networks. At stand 1010, KD will highlight an increasingly important step for the automotive sector: moving optical connectivity from technology development towards its implementation in real vehicle systems and architectures.

At the stand, visitors will be able to see the 10GBASE-AU optical camera system with fiber connectivity, developed in collaboration with Leopard Imaging and Corning. The demonstration brings together the different elements required to implement a high-speed optical camera link, providing a tangible example of how optical technology can be integrated into real automotive applications and supporting the transition from individual components to complete optical connectivity solutions.

Representing KD at ECOC 2026 will be Iria García, Senior AMS IC Design Engineer; David Ortiz, CTO; Daniel Moreno, FAE; and Luisma Torres, Principal Engineer. Their presence will give visitors the opportunity to discuss both the technological foundations of optical automotive communications and the practical considerations involved in bringing this technology into next-generation vehicle architectures. With more than 340 global exhibitors and over 8,000 industry attendees, ECOC also provides an important meeting point for technology providers, engineers and decision-makers across the optical communications ecosystem.

As vehicles generate and transport increasing volumes of data, particularly from cameras and other high-bandwidth sensors, the implementation of optical connectivity is becoming a key step in the evolution of in-vehicle networks. KD’s participation at ECOC will therefore focus not only on demonstrating the capabilities of optical technology, but on showing the progress being made towards putting it into practice. By bringing a real automotive use case to one of the optical industry’s most important international forums, KD aims to reinforce the role that fiber connectivity can play in the next generation of vehicle architectures. Visit KD at stand 1010 to see how optical connectivity is moving closer to real-world automotive deployment.
