KD drives discussion on optical Ethernet at the Automotive Ethernet Congress 2026 in Munich

2026-01-19

KD will co-organize with Bosch and other partners a special session dedicated to optical connectivity at the Automotive Ethernet Congress 2026, to be held in Munich from March 24 to 26. The meeting will bring together key players in the ecosystem to discuss whether the automotive industry is ready to make the leap to optical networking technologies.

The session, scheduled for March 25 from 4:00 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. CET, will be titled Automotive Optical Ethernet Communications and will address the emergence of a multi-vendor ecosystem and its applications. The goal is to explore how optical communication is accelerating the transition to software-defined and zonal vehicle architectures, a central shift in the evolution of onboard connectivity.

The program will include a market update, standards, and use cases, as well as presentations on optical transceivers, fiber and cabling, connectors, and optical cable assemblies and harnesses. Specialists from Bosch, Inneos, Corning, MD Elektronik, Rosenberger, Yazaki, and KD will participate, and the block will be rounded off with questions, an online survey, and a panel discussion focused on a key question: whether the market is ready for optical.
