KD Highlights Surging Japanese Interest in Optical In Vehicle Connectivity at Yokohama Expo

KD took part in the Automotive Engineering Exposition Yokohama, held from May 27 to 29, joining the event through an invitation from Hitachi High Tech. From within the Hitachi booth, KD contributed to one of the key industry gatherings in Japan, engaging with engineers, partners, and technology leaders focused on the future of automotive innovation.

Representing KD on site were Carlos Pardo, KD's CEO; Juan Pardo, Deputy General Director; David Cheng, BDM for Asia, and Óscar Ciordia, Marketing and Sales Director. The team actively participated in technical discussions and exchanges, gaining first hand insight into the priorities and direction of the Japanese automotive market.

During the exhibition, the KD team presented a live high speed optical link demonstration, highlighting automotive camera connectivity and low latency data transport. The setup featured a camera from Leopard Imaging, combined with KD's KD7251 transceiver and a connector from Corning, illustrating how optical Ethernet can support the growing performance requirements of next generation sensing systems with robust and scalable in vehicle communication.

Conversations throughout the event reflected a broader shift across the automotive sector. As sensor bandwidth and compute demands continue to rise, in vehicle communication is no longer viewed as a standalone component challenge, but as a critical system level consideration. In this context, KD observed a growing interest from the Japanese market, particularly in the industrial vehicle segment, where reliability and high performance connectivity are key.
