KD to Bring Real-World Optical Automotive Solutions to AutoSens USA

2026-05-11 · KD

KD is set to participate in AutoSens USA, in Detroit from 9 to 11 June, with a clear focus on demonstrating the rapid progress of optical technology adoption in automotive applications and the growing ecosystem supporting it. Through a series of live demonstrations, KD will showcase how optical connectivity is moving from concept to implementation, offering attendees a tangible view of its performance, scalability, and readiness for next-generation vehicles.

At this year’s event, KD will present several advanced demos designed to highlight high-bandwidth, reliable data transmission in real-world scenarios. One of the key demonstrations is the OmniVision Optical Camera Link, a prototype high-performance automotive camera system built for robust, long-distance communication. The system combines the OmniVision OX03C10 HDR image sensor with KD’s KD7251 serializer, transmitting real-time image data over optical fiber to an evaluation board and external display for live visualization.

KD will also introduce the first 10GBASE-AU enabled automotive camera with optical fiber connectivity. Developed in collaboration with Leopard Imaging and Corning Incorporated, this solution integrates KD’s KD7251 optical transceiver into a multigigabit camera platform. It demonstrates how optical links can meet the increasing data demands of ADAS and autonomous driving systems while ensuring reliability through automotive-grade components.

In addition, KD will feature a joint demonstration with Vector, focused on enabling optical Ethernet testing for automotive applications. This collaboration highlights the importance of validation tools and partnerships in accelerating the deployment of optical networks within vehicles, further strengthening the ecosystem around this technology.

KD’s team will be available at booth number 335, where Juan Luis Matus (CSM) and Robert Van Hamersveld (BDM) will welcome attendees and provide insights into the company’s latest developments. By presenting these innovations at AutoSens USA, KD reinforces its commitment to advancing optical communication in the automotive industry. The company continues to work closely with partners across the value chain to drive adoption, support interoperability, and deliver scalable solutions that meet the evolving needs of software-defined vehicles.
