KD to Highlight the Future of Automotive Optical Connectivity at ESSERC 2026

KD will participate in the 52nd IEEE European Solid State Electronics Research Conference, ESSERC 2026, taking place from 7 to 10 September in Palma de Mallorca, Spain. The event will bring together the academic and industrial semiconductor communities to present and discuss the latest developments in solid state devices, integrated circuits and advanced electronic technologies. KD will use the conference to highlight a clear industry direction: optical connectivity is set to play a central role in the future of automotive communications.
At its stand, KD will showcase the first implementation of its KD7251 10GBASE AU optical transceiver in an optical multigigabit automotive camera. The LI VENUS ISX031 BASE AU, developed by Leopard Imaging, demonstrates how high speed optical connectivity can be integrated into a real automotive sensing application, supporting the growing bandwidth requirements of next generation vehicle architectures. The demonstration also features a hybrid cable and connector system designed and developed by Corning Incorporated using Corning’s automotive grade cables and connectors. Together, the three companies provide an end to end implementation that illustrates the increasing relevance of optical technology for automotive applications, where higher data rates, lower weight, longer transmission distances and immunity to electromagnetic interference are becoming increasingly important.
Representing KD at ESSERC 2026 will be Enrique Prefasi, Senior Mixed Signal IC Design Engineer at KD, and Alberto Rodríguez Pérez, Analog and Mixed Signal Design Manager. Their participation will give attendees the opportunity to discuss the semiconductor design behind KD’s optical transceiver technology and its application in future vehicle networks, reinforcing the message that optical connectivity is becoming a key enabler of the next generation of automotive systems.
