KD to Show How Optical Ethernet Is Transforming Next-Generation In-Vehicle Network Design at E&IP@ATD 2026

KD will participate in the 2026 IEEE SA Ethernet & IP @ Automotive Technology Day (E&IP@ATD), taking place in Gothenburg, Sweden, on October 14–15. At stands 9 and 10, the company will demonstrate how optical automotive Ethernet can be integrated into next-generation vehicle architectures to address the growing demands for bandwidth, scalability and network efficiency. As vehicle design becomes increasingly defined by high-resolution sensors, centralized computing and software-driven functions, optical connectivity is emerging as a key enabler for the networks of the future.
Through three live 10GBASE-AU demonstrations, KD will showcase different approaches to managing sensor data inside the vehicle: de-aggregation at the destination on the processor side, sensor replication, and aggregation at the source on the sensor side. Rather than presenting optical Ethernet as a single connectivity solution, the demos illustrate how it can be incorporated into different architectural strategies, giving automotive designers greater flexibility when defining how data is transported, distributed and processed across the vehicle.
This flexibility is becoming increasingly important as OEMs and Tier 1 suppliers rethink in-vehicle network design to support more cameras, sensors and data-intensive applications. Integrating optical connectivity at the architectural level can help enable high-speed communication while addressing key design considerations such as cabling complexity, electromagnetic compatibility and the need for scalable network performance. By bringing these real-world use cases to E&IP@ATD, KD aims to demonstrate that optical Ethernet is not simply an alternative transmission medium, but a technology that can influence how future vehicles are designed.
KD will also contribute to the event’s technical program on October 15 at 16:00 CET, when Juan L. Matus and Luis Medina will present “Improving Predictive Maintenance in ADAS Sensor Networks through Runtime Optical Link Monitoring.” Their presentation will explore how monitoring optical links during operation can provide valuable insight into link health and support predictive maintenance strategies, helping strengthen the reliability and long-term performance of ADAS sensor networks as optical connectivity becomes more deeply integrated into vehicle systems.
KD CEO Carlos Pardo will attend the event alongside Thomas Walsh, Business Development Manager; Luisma Torres, Principal Engineer; Luis Medina, Field Application Engineer, and Juan Luis Matus, Customer Success Manager. Throughout the two-day event, the team will be available to discuss the demonstrations, the technical presentation and the broader transition toward optical in-vehicle networking. With 10GBASE-AU moving closer to real automotive deployment, E&IP@ATD will provide an important forum for KD to show how optical connectivity can become a fundamental part of the design of safer, smarter and more data-driven vehicles.
